peace, a powerful black August and unconditional revolutionary love to you
a few more things going up – to Rise.
We are growing. Come grow with us. Since we last spoke a new black arts movement now has a school Freebrook Academy (www.freebrook.org) support our revolutionary education in action. We now have a big band, this past Sunday we celebrated Fred Ho's b'earthday and 2 legacies (scientific soul sessions and the Eco-Music Big Band)https://www.facebook.com/ecomusicbigband or visitwww.scientificsoulsessions.com for further information on upcoming from our revolutionary big band. And we are currently producing a free Hip Hop summer camp for the youth see below.
In addition to our existing formations scientific soul sessions, movement in motion, zulu nation, urban art beat, art start, the next youth coalition we would like to welcome Guerrilla Republik.
We are challenging white supremacy with a new black arts movement. We are Maroons. Afrikan, Amerindian's, White and the like Maroons. We have mentally left the plantation to create and build this autonomous prefigurative society called a new black arts movement. It is a new black arts movement because Black is our state of mind, White is not. Black still, despite oppression throughout the united snakes of amerikkka, are the ones that most populate concentration/slave camps (prisons) which the us holds and reigns supreme in the world by shackling and “imprisoning” our black and brown men (mostly young) with womyn not too far behind as they are the fastest growing population.
These next few events tomorrow and Sunday will speak more and tell creative stories of oppression and resistance as we commemorate our ancestors and political prisoners always and especially this month.
We will be updating and revising this Black August information packet, however for now please download information for your information.https://www.dropbox.com/sh/x185lasr6bpji0h/AADRdMc9N1SfzAoreYWVCH0ga

A New Black Arts Movement: Black August
Sunday, August 17, 2014
4:00 PM @ casa de soul
724 Empire Blvd between Albany and Troy, Crown Heights, Brooklyn
$10 admission
Featuring youth artists & entrepreneurs
A New Black Arts Movement is painting a new aesthetic, one in which we liberate ourselves from our oppressors. We are matriarchal, eco-socialist, and majority oppressed nationality and identity. On August 17th, 2014, we will honor the month that has shaped our liberation struggle unlike any other with food, art, the celebration of youth entrepreneurship, politics, and various presentations of freedom fighters.
A New Black Arts Movement honors our ancestors, the black liberation struggle and political prisoners. Each year we acknowledge and commemorate our freedom fighters. We fast, go with in, know and share this history and celebrate our victories with community during this historically hottest month of the year.
"A month of meaning, of repression and radical resistance of injustice and divine justice." - Mumia Abu-Jamal -
